Many of us are not aware that there is more than one type of Liposuction surgery. All that we know about Liposuction is that it is one of the popular ways of removing the fat from our body to achieve good shape. Only when you want to undergo a Liposuction surgery, you will take further interest to know more about the techniques used. There are various techniques used in Liposuction surgeries and these are classified under two main categories – classification based on the quantity of fluid injected and on the technology used.

According to the above two categories the first category which is based on the amount of fluid that is injected we have dry liposuction, wet liposuction, super-wet liposuction, Laser assisted liposuction and tumescent liposuction. The second category which is based on the cannula mechanism is further divided into, suction assisted liposuction, ultrasound assisted liposuction, and water assisted liposuction. All the above types of surgeries are performed in most of the Phoenix Liposuction centers.

• Dry liposuction as the name suggests does not use any fluid injection during the surgery. Due to the disadvantages involved in this method, it is very rarely used.

• When the fluid volume used is less than the volume of the fat that is removed during the surgery, it is called wet liposuction. The fluid injected during the surgery is a mixture of local anesthetic such as Lidocaine, Epinephrine to minimize bleeding through contraction of blood vessels and a saline solution to make the entire mixture similar to our body fluids. The purpose of injecting this mixture is to loosen up the fat cells before it is sucked through the cannula.

• When it is super-wet liposuction, the amount of fluid injected will be equal to the fat that is to be suctioned

• In tumescent liposuction which is commonly performed in Phoenix liposuction centers, a large volume of fluid is injected when compared to the other two types of Liposuction methods discussed above. This procedure is also more time consuming than the other wet liposuction methods.

• Laser assisted liposuction uses laser energy to disintegrate the fat accumulation using Erchonia devices.

• Suction assisted liposuction is a regular technique commonly used in most Phoenix liposuction centers. The fat cells are suctioned out using a small vacuum device through a small cannula.

• In ultrasound-assisted liposuction, ultrasound vibrations are used to disintegrate the walls of the fat cells and the liquefied fat cells are suctioned out through the cannula.
• Water-assisted liposuction uses a thin water beam to slacken the fat cells during the surgery. Here there is a constant injection and aspiration of the water during the entire surgery. However, this is not a very widely used technique.
