Even though eating hot foods by themselves or made into a dish of some sort is what brings the pallet pleasure for some, it can also bring those same people an excruciating amount of pain in their throat and stomach. The side affects that some hot items can cause like severe heartburn and indigestion are common for most of us, but even that might not be enough to prevent some people from indulging in their fired up fare.
Onions are used in so many different kinds of foods and there are so many different kinds of onions. Onions can not only cause some of the more undesirable physical side affects like heartburn, but they can become very offensive on the breath as well. It is really hard to mask the smell that your breath can get after eating most onions whether they are cooked or eaten raw.
All kinds of peppers are used in foods all over the world. There are the little red chili peppers, jalapeno peppers, banana peppers, bell peppers, and more. Some peppers are not hot, like those in the bell family, but there are others that can almost scorch the taste buds right off your tongue. Some of these extremely hot peppers can be dangerous if you touch them with your fingers and then rub your eyes. They can even make your fingers burn.
It is common for most people to enjoy foods that are a little spicy or have a minor amount of kick to them, but exactly what is the appeal of eating something that burns you up? I guess those of us who are not brave enough to try them will never know. What it all must boil down to is the fact that when it comes to the foods that we choose to eat and the ones that we like we like, it is all in the tongue of the beholder, or the person that may be the one eating it.
